On your way to Cape Town or coming to the Garden Route?

Cape Town is a must on your South African bucket list. It is the perfect place to start or  end your trip. If you enjoyed what you saw at Stanley Island. Maybe we may have another surprise installed for you. At Stanley Island all of our renovated lodges have been designed and curated by the Chantler sisters and the finishes (and most of the furniture) have been curated by their father, Dave, work buddy, Max and the Stanley Island Team. And yes, this passion extends all the way to Cape Town.

Back in 2017, the Chantler family purchased an apartment in the heart of the Atlantic Sea Board, Sea Point. This fix-me up apartment started their journey into the sisters' love for design and interior. This apartment had the perfect structure (tall ceilings, beautiful wooden floors, - the architectural and urban-making fabric of old Sea Point, but as most of these old buildings they needed some love and restoration.

The Chantler's passion  is trying to do bring their different skills to restore and add beauty to a space that can be enjoyed by everyone. Sharon is a passionate interior designer (for a very well known firm) and her prime focus is creating aesthetically pleasing spaces through layout, furniture and joinery designs. The other sister, Megan puts her focus on curating beautiful spaces by sourcing out local decor pieces (or at least second hand and antique pieces) to further bring sense of familiarity. However, this could not be done without David and Max, the carpenters duo behind all the beautiful wooden pieces and their mother, Dani, who is the first to jump up to doing the dirty work - painting, varnishing, and supporting her children in their dreams.

These accommodation units are best for long term stays.

WHAT SOME GUESTS HAVE SAID IN THE PAST

We had a wonderful stay at Sharon’s place! Her home was inviting, incredibly clean and full of nice touches to make it feel like home. The location is incredible, lots of coffee shops, restaurants and a quick walk to the beach front/boardwalk. The balcony view is breath taking and a great spot for sunsets and enjoying coffee in the mornings. We highly recommend staying here and hope to be back again in the future.

We loved our stay in Sharon's place. We were here for 3 months and it really felt like home. Morning coffee on the balcony looking at Lion's Head, with the scent of the ocean wafting up from the promenade which is only a 3min walk away was such a highlight. Easy access to town and beaches as well as local shops. The space itself is beautifully appointed with everything we needed for it to feel like home. Lovely design touches with lots of plants and comfortable furniture. We also loved Elizabeth, the wonderful woman who came to clean the apartment really thoroughly every two weeks. Sharon, our host, was helpful, friendly and communicative. If we needed anything she sorted it out immediately. Would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a home away from home in Cape Town.

If you are looking for a dreamy, stylish, safe and clean accommodation in Cape Town; this is the place! We enjoyed an incredibly nice stay in this apartment, which lacked nothing and the hostess was always available, nice and open to questions of all kinds. Highly recommended!

WHAT SOME GUESTS HAVE SAID IN THE PAST

As someone who stays in Airbnbs full-time, I can easily say this was the best Airbnb experience we've had. We stayed for over a month and everything was absolutely perfect!
Pros:
- Wonderful hosts (quick to respond, flexible with check-in, always willing to help)
- The space is somehow better than the pictures
- Quiet area of town with easy access to the main street
- UPS installed so you still have wifi during load-shedding
- Spectacular view from all rooms
- Gated and secure building
- There was clearly a ton of thought and consideration put into the design of the space. Everything has a purpose and the small touches make it feel homey

Sharon and Megan's place is a really lovely 2-bed flat overlooking Sea Point. It has full sea views from all rooms, and the Cape Town sunset/sunrise does not disappoint. Convenient access through a double garage which is equipped with a washing machine and laundry-line to dry clothing. The house is well-equipped, with pod coffee machine and a few complementary local brews, which was thoughtful. The kitchen has everything you would need for a hassle-free stay includijg a dishwasher. House is clean and linen/bedding is very comfortable. There are some incredible personal touches to the place - we enjoyed reading about trips to Nepal, India, and Italy and thought that was a unique insight into our hosts. The furniture seems artisan style, if not boutique.  Labelled plain glass and plastic containers with cleaning agents and other small goodies was a nice touch. The flat is conveniently located close to the promenade and main street though Sea Point where one can enjoy cafe-style eating from a number of different shops. Coffee culture is also very strong in the area. Would consider Coco Sofar as our favourite place to grab a quick cup and croissant. The V&A Waterfront is 10 minutes away and Uber had no hassles finding the place. Two downsides from the trip and those were intermittent WiFi access and a very noisy upstairs neighbour. Though I think both are well beyond the control of the owners. Overall, a fantastic place and we shall definitely return. I highly recommended their place to other guests.

Staying at Sharon‘s place was a real treat. A light & sunny space with a great view, a warm vibe and many nice touches. Also a perfect place for staying in and being cosy should there be a rainy day (which we had). I really appreciated that communication with Sharon was so easy & super friendly.
