Stanley Island is a wonderfull estuary fishing and fly-fishing destination as being an island you're surrounded by the Keurbooms River. The Garden Route and Plettenberg bay are both well known fishing destinations so it's certainly worthwhile to pack your fishing rod!

Stanley island has some fishing rods for rent and bait can be arranged at the reception. The Keurbooms river estuary is home to an ubundance of estuarine fish. Great catches of Grunter, Kabeljou, Steenbras and occational Elf has been made. The estaury is a healthy feeding system for juvenile Leerfish (Garrick) and these are a wonderfull challenge for fly-fishing. The spotted grunter is also a very worthy quarry amongst fly-fishing enthusiasts. The adjacent Bitou river is also a popular fly-fishing destination.

Make sure you pack your estuary or fly-rod for some exciting fishing in the Garden Route. Plettenberg bay also has some very good fishing charters availible for deep sea fishing.
